HV McKay 6353/1905 Pattern

HV McKay were the manufacturers of the Sunshine Harvester and other farming equipment.

HV McKay were known to have supplied Billhooks to the Army, however they were not known to have supplied clasp knives

This knife is based on the 6353/1905 pattern clasp knife (refer British and Commonwealth Military Knives by Ron Flook Pages 132-135). However the material it is made from does not match any of the military specifications. ie brass scales

How did this clasp knife come about?

Was it made by HV McKay as a gift for employees who enlisted?

Were MV Mckay seeking to make these to supply the Australian Government and it was made as a prototype to submit for testing.?

Hopefully one day information will come to light to solve this puzzle.
